Where the Past and Present Meet: Lucban and Sariaya, Quezon

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Quezon during the feast of San Isidro. During this day, Lucban celebrates its Pahiyas Festival while Sariaya holds its Agawan Festival. Both festivals differ only in a few minor details that you wouldn't even know if you are in Lucban or in Sariaya.

We got to Lucban a day before the festival and I got some wonderful "behind the scenes" shots of people preparing for festival day. In Sariaya, we got to see the houses decked out in colorful decorations on the feast day itself just before they will be torn down by the crowd, taking food, hats, and "tabos" included in the decorations.

Quezon is a very interesting place to be in. The past and the present coexist in such a way that old, wooden houses stand beside new, concrete and glass ones. These photos are my way of letting you experience the place through my own eyes.
